The Secret To A Popular Blog
BloggingIf you blog people will read it….
This use to be a true statement 10 years ago but really doesn’t work much anymore. You see 10 years ago the internet wasn’t that well organized and people really didn’t have a lot of places that they could go and find good information. Back then Google was still struggling to get it right. These days people rarely go beyond the first page of Google to find what they are looking for.
Back in the early 2000’s if you wanted people to read you blog you would go and comment on other blogs and tell your friends about it. Then slowly if your post were good people would come and read it and the word started spreading about your blog.
These days it really doesn’t work that way. The traffic (site visitors) that are generated to your blog come from more established sources. It was really hard to find good or great content 10 years ago. Now it’s pretty much the norm. Most of the time it’s not about finding good content to read, watch and listen too it’s about deciding where to spend your time.
Traffic no longer flows from the bottom up it now flows from the top down. Every niche by now has at least one popular blog and/or expert. Unless you can get them to spread the word about your blog you probably won’t get much traffic to your blog ever. There is simply too much competition good and bad that are out there.
So Here’s the Secret…
The easiest way to get another blog to feature your blog is to do a guest post. A guest post is simply writing for them almost like a freelance position. The real benefits often don’t come until you have written for them several times. This has to do mainly because you have a chance to establish yourself with their reader base. As their reader base begins to recognize you as an expert then they will start coming to your blog more frequently.
To get the attention of the popular bloggers it may be difficult. Most them have really busy schedules as they try and keep up with everything that they need to know about their niche and blog on a regular basis. There are a few things that you can do to get there attention.
The most important thing you can do to get their attention is to provide great, awesome content for their community that they have built. You can do this by leaving high quality comments on their blog, providing excellent resources to the blogger. But most of all, provide them with your best quality blog post that is unique, original, and geared to their readership. That will do more for you than anything else.
You could blog once a week and guest blog a few times a month and receive plenty of traffic to make a living provided you are not in a micro-niche. And even then it’s possible.
So the key to remember is that unless you want to pay for traffic look for the people who are controlling the traffic in your niche and give them awesome value for their community. They will generally repay you in large amounts of traffic.
