Time Management – Email Handling – Matt Cutts and I
Blogging Email News Time ManagementEmail Handling has to be one of the most difficult aspects of Time Management there is to “Manage”. And yet Time Management is one of those ongoing necessities. The more you learn about it, the more you realize you still need it. At least that is what I find.
Don’t get me wrong, there are continual gains along the way, but I never feel like I’ve “arrived” when it comes to time management. I continue to learn new ways to improve (which means if you have benefited from my consulting in the past, I am always coming up with new and better techniques).
When it comes to time management, I tend to subscribe to Pareto principle, commonly referred to as the 80-20 rule. Based on this principle, I simply look for the items consuming 80% of time and attempt to develop systems to reduce that time.
This is what brings me to email handling. Email Handling has been a thorn in my side for years. Between the need to monitor several accounts, and just plain having lots of contacts; I receive around one hundred emails each day. Before you jump to thinking this is all SPAM, it is not. There are many emails that I keep just for reference purposes, but very little qualify as SPAM.
Several times I have looked into systems readily available to manage these many emails, and while each time I am able to tweak things for some small improvements, invariably I find myself in a place where managing these emails more effectively requires either more time or money than I can justify. Not to mention that I think checking all those emails on my Smartphone is probably why a new phone only lasts about six months before it is worn out.
I have always felt that I was the odd man out when it came to my email handling issues. You know, as President of a Marketing Firm there are all those extra things that I monitor for my clients. I felt that way until today. Reading 30 day challenge: better email handling by Matt Cutts changed my mind for good. I am not alone!
So this is what I am wondering. Who else out there (besides me & Matt Cutts) is having trouble handling your volume of emails, and is looking for a solution? If there is sufficient interest, then we here at D3CS Marketing will look into developing a tool for those “power users” out there. One more way to “Make Your Better”.
Just drop me a line and let me know that you are interested, and what would be important to you: i.e. web based, multi-location, app based, one-time cost vs monthly fee, etc.
At this point don’t worry about the cost. If there is enough interest I will put a plan together and get the funding so that it is an affordable solution for each individual.
